Summary

In Chapter 4, Bakari continues to write about his time at Morehouse. In his sophomore year, he ran for a student government position and won. He also began developing various political skills. He made a point of being as involved in the Morehouse community as he could be. He also developed a deep admiration for Shirley Franklin, the mayor of Atlanta, who was passionate about all areas of public service. By studying the lives and work of black leaders, Bakari began to realize that true leadership is defined by the ability to foster community and enable the work of other leaders. In his junior year, Bakari ran for Student Government Association (SGA) president.
