Katherine "Katie/Cat" Brenner

Cat is the heroine and protagonist of the novel. She is a twenty-six-year-old woman who is working her first job in London. She had two previous positions, but they were unpaid internships. She loves her company and her boss and wants nothing more than to be acknowledged and included in the creative process of branding. But she is timid and afraid to rock the boat, so she does not ever come out of her shell while working in London.

When she is fired by her boss, Cat, who has always been optimistic and cheerful, is at a loss for what to do. She feels like a failure and a disappointment and she does not want to tell her family the truth.
