Summary

In Chapter 5, Bekim and the cat continued to get to know one another at the gay bar. Bekim told the cat that he and his family were not the average lazy immigrants, and then told the cat that his parents were both dead. Then Bekim asked the cat to come back to his place. In “Spring 1980: The Moist Earth,” Emine contemplated her own death on the day before her actual wedding ceremony. Her father came outside and promised her she would be happy. In “Spring 1980: The Women Who Wished Her Luck,” Ermine performed a pre-wedding ritual in which she had to embrace all the women in her life and weep as she said goodbye to them.
