Chapter 2 Summary

Father's name is Eliphalet Meeker, but he is called Life. Mother's name is Susannah. Tim tells the reader about Redding, a small town divided into Redding Ridge and Redding Center. The Center is home the Presbyterian Church, while the Ridge, where the Meekers live, has an Anglican church. The Anglican Church is the church of England, and most of the people in the ridge area are Tories and loyal to the king, because it is closely tied to their religion.
