Summary

In Chapter 16, one day Jacob and Turtle go to Buckhorn Beach for a picnic. As they are trying to capture eels, Jacob and Turtle are washed out into the cove which is full of rocky islands, by a rogue high tide. When Turtle breaks the surface, she is so close to wall of Buckhorn Island that she fears she will be dashed against the side with its razor sharp mussels attached to the wall.

Turtle sees Jacob and pulls him from the water. They are sucked into a cave beneath the island. At one point Turtle believes that they are going to die. She and Jacob cling to each other.
