Summary

In Chapter 11, a week after the beating, Grandpa is waiting for Turtle when school dismisses. He drives her to Buckhorn Cove to look for crabs and mussels. Without thinking, Turtle takes off her pants and dives into a well in the rock after a huge crab. Grandpa sees the bruises on her legs. He curses and tells her that the bruises look like they were made by an iron rod. Turtle refuses to tell her grandfather how she got the bruises. When he drops her off at her driveway, he asks her to tell Martin that he is coming to eat dinner with them.

In Chapter 12, Turtle is in the tub when Martin arrives home. He joins her in the bathroom and apologizes for messing up. Turtle tells him that Grandpa is coming for dinner. Martin says he is glad. He apologizes again...
