Chapter 6 begins the next day in the novel's timeline, Tuesday. Victor and Marsha travel to the hospital where VJ undergoes extensive and esoteric medical testing. The results are inconclusive and indicate VJ is in good health. After the testing, Victor goes to the pathology section and speaks with the doctors who are performing an autopsy on Maurice Hobbs. Meanwhile, Marsha and VJ return to Marsha's psychiatry offices where VJ undergoes an hours-long regimen of psychological profiling by Marsha's colleagues.
