Book IV, Wind Summary

Many are waiting for the fight between Musashi and Seijuro but neither show. Then Seijuro's servant arrives, saying that the two men met and fought at a different location. Musashi brutally injured Seijuro with a wooden sword. Seijuro's students rush to that place and find Seijuro with a shattered arm, begging that it be cut off. Kojiro does so then tells Akemi that his action should make up for Seijuro's attack on her. Musashi encounters an old woman named Myoshu who senses on him the smell of blood and runs away. He follows, taking a basket she dropped and reassuring her and her son, Koetsu, that he meant no harm.

Matahachi finds Akemi in a tree, hiding from the real Kojiro. Matahachi identifies himself as Kojiro, making the real Kojiro laugh. Matahachi is then tied up by a samurai...
