Chapter 29 Summary

The day of the country club fundraiser, Regan receives phone messages from Sophie and Cordie, confirming they made it back to town in time for the evening's events. She also learns from Detective Wincott that Shields and his bodyguards have been placed in protective custody.

Chapter 29 Analysis

The anticipation of the event at the country club is palpable to the reader for several reasons. The reader knows, even if the characters do not, that a stranger tried to make contact with Regan at the last event she attended, so the possibility of a confrontation exists.

In addition, the growing attraction between Regan and Alec has nearly reached the boiling point and, aided by the very sexy dress she has decided to wear, will very likely boil over after the event.
