Summary

Chapter 8 is titled “The Fighter-Quarrelers Cure.” The image at the top of the page shows twins Anne and Joan Russell. Each of the twins is pulling the hair of the other. Each has her mouth wide open, as if she is shouting out in pain. As this story opens, Joan shouts at Anne that there is a giant spider on her side of the bed. Anne rushes to her parents' room, screaming. This happens often and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell points out that Joan is still in bed, which probably means there is no spider. Mr. Russell pretends to be a lion and chases Anne, then whistles while he is in the shower. Mrs. Russell, however, is in a grumpy mood because she can hear the girls arguing and even hitting each other. Their quarrel ends with them shouting for their mother...
