Writing

Through the character of Srinivas, the novel shows that while some begin writing in pursuit of fame and wealth, others, like Srinivas write in order to understand and to process the world around them. Although Srinivas is pleased by the audience that he gains through The Banner, the novel shows that Srinivas is motivated by his own personal questions about the world and by his desire to have those questions answered.
