Summary

In Chapter Eight, the cast and directors watch one of the recent shots on the big screen. Sohan Lal requests that they reshoot the scene, and suggests that it is missing a dance sequence. Srinivas refuses to be involved in the rewriting of the scene. Meanwhile, Ravi is working on the design for the publicity poster and advertisement notices. Srinivas notices Ravi looks unwell, and invites him to stay at his house for a time.

Srinivas’s wife asks Srinivas to speak with Sampath about his involvement with Shanti, who it is revealed is not actually his cousin. Sampath rejects Srinivas’s attempt to discuss, pointing out that “Some people say that every sane man needs two wives – a perfect one for the house and a perfect one outside for social life” (156).
