Summary

In "Chapter 13: Seven," under the influence of painkillers, Darashikoh compares his bandages to a cocoon. There is a page break. Mumtaz enters Darashikoh’s hospital room and asks what has happened. He tells her not to ask. She takes his hand in hers and runs her other hand over his bandages. She asks who injured him, and he does not answer. He closes his eyes and remembers what happened at the hands of Shuja’s father and his guards. Mumtaz asks after his family, but Darashikoh has not told them about what has happened. When she asks, he also confesses that he does not know how he will pay for the medical bills. Mumtaz holds him and promise to take care of him.
