Chapters 17 and 18 Summary

Brayden, Niko, Dean, and Jake are drinking rum and getting drunk. Dean confronts Jake about using Astrid for sex and not truly loving her. Jake gets angry and beats Dean up. Josie comes and helps Dean up.

The next morning, Dean wakes up with a hangover and sore from his beating. He goes to Jake's room. Dean lies to Jake, telling him that Astrid told him about the relationship she has with Jake. Jake accepts his apology.

Jake also gives Dean drugs for the pain and steroids. Jake cleans up Dean's face and resents his broken nose. Josie finds the two boys and comments on how she is glad to see they are both up and moving around. She also tells them that they have lice, which is why some of the younger kids have been scratching their heads.
