Summary

In “Speaking with the Enemy,” the narration is in Viola’s voice as she holds Lee’s head while Mistress Coyle operates on his destroyed eyes. In the meantime, Simone launches the scout ship and bombs the Spackle. Bradley, whom some have taken to calling the humanitarian, still argues against use of force even though the Spackle did kill people who intended them no harm. Later, Viola and Todd talk using the comms. The Mayor agrees to meet with Mistress Coyle at the spot where her house of healing once was in order to talk about combining forces. Viola is upset when she learns that Mistress Coyle plans to have armed women hiding in the woods near the place where they will meet with the Mayor.
