Summary

When she was fifteen, Maya was allowed to stay out until eleven if her brother was with her. One evening, Maya found herself out late without her brother. She rode on the streetcars to the Mexican area to have tacos and tamales. She knew she should go home, but she didn’t want to miss the fun. It was one o’clock when Maya finally told the others she had to leave. She didn’t have enough money for the streetcar so she walked home.
