Summary

Enid shows up to the cabin with blood on her dress in Chapter 12. Marjery, who is terrified of blood, runs out and faints. After recovering in the nursery ward, Marjery learns that Enid had a miscarriage. Enid is devastated, as she wants a baby more than anything in the world. She is annoyed at Marjery for abandoning her during her time of need. After this, Marjery makes more of an effort to bond with Enid and the two start to get along. Marjery is shocked when Enid tells her she is quitting. Enid tends to stay in Brisbane, where the ship is docking, to try and have a baby there. She explains to Marjery that this is as important to her as finding the beetle is for Marjery. Marjery is cold when they part, offending Enid.
