Summary

This section covers Day Two of Elizabeth's trial. Matt continues his testimony, as he is cross-examined by Shannon Haug, Elizabeth Ward's attorney. Shannon asks a series of questions to cast doubt on whether or not the cigarettes that started the fire belonged to Elizabeth and emphasize Elizabeth's fitness as a mother. Matt is strategic in his responses as he thinks Elizabeth is guilty. He downplays incidents that indicate the high level of care Elizabeth gave Henry, such as a peanut butter allergy scare. Shannon then takes Matt by surprise as she asks him if he called an insurance company and inquired about arson coverage. The call originated from Matt's phone, but he has no recollection of it.
