Deputy Chief Lucas Davenport

Deputy Chief Lucas Davenport is a detective with the Minneapolis Police Department. Lucas is a wealthy man who has made a great deal of money developing games, both role playing games and computer games, as well as police training simulations. This side job has turned into a lucrative business that Lucas oversees when not working on important cases for the police department. Lucas continues to be a cop, however, because he enjoys the challenge of figuring out clues and chasing down bad guys.

When this novel begins, Lucas arrives at the scene of a kidnapping. Andi Manette and her two daughters were kidnapped as they left a parent-teacher conference at a private school.
