Summary

Chapter 12

Alan sees an old man clearing the sidewalks after the first snow. Later that same day, the man comes to the door and introduces himself as Angel’s landlord, Bill Dodd. Bill takes a quick look through the apartment and then tells Alan he hopes Angel will change her mind about moving out in February. This is a surprise to Alan. When he asks Angel about it later, she says that she just had not had the chance to renew her lease yet.

Chapter 13

Alan has begun to wonder about Angel because she never talks about her past. For this reason, he introduces himself to her neighbor, Christine Wilcox, in an attempt to learn more about her. However, Christine knows less about Angel than Alan does. In complete contrast, Alan finds himself telling Christine all there is to know about himself.
