Summary

In Chapter 38, it is Halloween. Children are following the local tradition created by Fiji’s great-aunt to come from Davy to the witch’s house. Several members of the Midnight community have helped Fiji decorate her house, and they are there now to provide the haunted house experience. Even Mr. Snuggly participates as he speaks to the children, even though Fiji makes them think that it is a trick. After the event is over, everyone gathers to eat food that Fiji has prepared. Manfred thinks about how he is having a great time since he has moved to Midnight and wonders if his coming there was predestined.
