Book 4, The Last Stop Summary

Joining Julie and Cal at the museum, Cal has told her about himself. Julie asks if she will be just a stop for him in his sexual discovery. "No," he tells her, more like a first stop in having a relationship. Julie agrees and they leave the museum and go back to Cal's apartment. The couple slow dances, then takes off their clothes in the dark, get under the covers, and hold each other.

Back to San Francisco, Chapter 11 flies in to retrieve Cal from jail. The siblings haven't seen each other for a year and much has changed. After arriving back in Detroit, Cal asks his brother to drive him through their old neighborhoods. Cal is happy to be home and nervous to see his mother. The family embraces and she endeavors to do her best to adjust to Cal's changes.
