Book 4, Hermaphroditus Summary

Cal goes to work in Bob Presto's club called San Francisco's Sixty-Niners. Cal is making money displaying to the patrons his unique genitalia. Cal will go on to work for Presto for the next four months. When Presto picks Cal up in the park, he takes him home and when he and his girlfriend are dressing his wounds they discover his unique genitalia.

Cal works with Carmen and Zora at the club. Each night they climb down into a tank of water keeping their heads above the surface. The water tank is surrounded by booths where patrons sit and pay to have their viewing windows uncovered.
