Book 2, Tricknology Summary

Going to and from work Desdemona is required to use the back door. Desdemona is also required to wear a headscarf. Despite the depressed economy all around them, the silk clothing they make sells well and the money pours in. Desdemona enjoys her work, has converted an outhouse into a cocoonery, and is teaching the young girls how to cultivate silk. Desdemona has had little contact with the African-American community prior to this and the little details, such as the pale skin on their palms mystifies her.

Desdemona is not allowed to enter or even view the main sanctuary of the Temple. However, she is able to hear the talks given by the leader, W.D. Fard, through the heating ducts that connect the Silk Room upstairs to the sanctuary downstairs. Fard's lectures cover.....
