Book 1, An Immodest Proposal Summary

Cal lives in Europe now, in Berlin and works for the Foreign Service to where he takes the train to work everyday. This particular day he is on the train reading the paper and an Asian woman rolls her bicycle onto the train. Cal's attraction to her leads to him becoming physically aroused. At his stop, he gets off the train and lights up a cigar. Cal admits that with his double-breasted suits and cigars he is over compensating a little but justifies it with all that he's been through. Cal wants the reader to understand that he's not androgynous and that his body chemistry is that of a man's, however, sometimes in his actions Calliope surfaces. Sometimes she is present in a hair flip or a check of his.....
