Chapters 76-78 Summary
Dorothea finally summons Lydgate. Bulstrode has decided once again to leave town. He reminds Lydgate and Dorothea to make the plans necessary for the hospital. Dorothea shares with Lydgate that she desires to do some good with all the money at her disposal. She also vows her support of Lydgate and claims she does not believe the accusations against him. She promises the support of her family as well. Furthermore, she implores Lydgate to stay in town. He bemoans that Rosamond just will not be happy in Middlemarch anymore. Learning this, Dorothea asks if she may visit with Rosamond to speak of the matter. Lydgate departs Lowick, feeling more hopeful and very appreciative of Dorothea Casaubon. Dorothea decides to pay off Lydgate's debt to Bulstrode and to deliver the money to Rosamond when she visits.
Rosamond asks her father if he will help her and Lydgate move. Mr. Vincy concedes...
