Chapter 35 Summary

Sayuri finally finds peace and contentment sharing her life with the Chairman. Shortly after their meeting at the Ichiriki teahouse, the Chairman becomes her danna. Although Sayuri finds inner peace through being with the Chairman her life is not without problems or complications. In taking Sayuri as his mistress, the Chairman had to make a difficult decision about his relationship with Nobu. In order to spare Nobu further embarrassment and disrespect Sayuri is banished from being a geisha in Gion. As such, she is unable to socialize in the accustomed way or entertain men. She still visits Mameha whose friendship is invaluable to her.

Shortly after becoming Sayuri's danna, the Chairman buys a house in Kyoto. This becomes their regular meeting place with Mameha also often dropping in to visit them. Their life settles.....
