Part One: A Lost Childhood: Danger Everywhere, Father and Other F-Words, When Good Turns Bad, Night: Chapters 12 - 17 Summary

Cory develops a terrifying new tic. Whenever he's in the car, he feels a strong compulsion to tap the steering wheel. While he is with his mother one afternoon, Cory cannot stop himself from jerking the wheel towards him, causing a massive car accident. Although he and his mother are okay after the accident, their car is totaled. Soon after, Cory spends his days in the basement with his father building model cars. Cory is obsessed with the tiny pieces and greatly enjoys this bonding time with his father because he has no other friends. While they are working, Cory feels a desperate need to say the "F" word...
