Summary

New York – On her way home from the bar, still drunk, Cat picks up some beer and some cat food, giving it to the feral cats in the empty lot near her apartment building. She then goes home, pretending to herself and to her husband (Liam) that she is not drunk, and drinking more even though she knows she is becoming more obvious. She tells Liam about Sal, and he suggests that she pull out her box of keepsakes so she can perhaps give Sal one of them. After dinner, Cat pulls them out, and drinks more beer (at this point, narration places Cat in her early thirties, meaning it is 15 years or so since Marlena died).
