Summary

Michigan – Cat describes how she got caught skipping school, interrupting the narrative of how her mother and her teachers reacted to describe what she was doing instead – going with Ryder and Marlena to do a drug deal, selling meth to a pair of apparently well-off teenaged boys. This, she comments in narration, made her feel like she belonged, even though Ryder referred to her as an accomplice.

At school, Cat was given a talking to by her mother and the school counselor, who tried to find out what Cat was really doing.
