House of Night

The House of Night is the main setting in the book. It is the place where vampyres go to school and to live. As a newly marked person, Zoey must go to the House of Night to learn how to deal with her new status as a fledgling vampyre. Zoey's grandmother, Sylvia Redbird takes Zoey to the House of Night after she is marked and injured in a fall. Zoey's grandmother leaves Zoey in the care of Neferet, the High Priestess of the school.

The House of Night is described much like a college campus. Located in the suburbs of Tulsa, OK, the school has a touch of the Old South as well as hints of old Europe with its Gothic and Grecian elements. Neferet explains that the school once belonged to the People of Faith but it was sold to the House of Night...
