Chapters 5-9 Summary

Chapter 5:

Zoey arrives at her grandmother's lavender farm. Her grandmother had known Zoey was coming and had left a note on the door, saying she was picking wildflowers up on the bluffs. Zoey does not want to wait for her grandmother's return and decides to go to the bluffs to find her. Zoey is becoming sicker. She thinks that Grandma Redbird will be able to help. Somehow the wisdom and magic of the Cherokee skipped a generation, leaving Zoey's mother without the gifts of her ancestors. On the way up to the bluffs, Zoey thinks about her childhood and the stories told by her grandmother. There were many stories of the Cherokee people. Zoey begins to see ghosts on the path and begins to run. Zoey falls, hits her head and blacks out.
