Chapters 1-4 Summary

Chapter 1:

The story begins with the main character, Zoey, walking toward her locker with her friend Kayla. Zoey feels like she is coming down with a cold or some other ailment. Her best friend, Kayla, is babbling non-stop as usual, something that Zoey refers to as K-babble. Kayla talks incessantly about how Zoey's almost-boyfriend, Heath, got drunk after the game Friday night. Kayla insists that Heath wasn't that drunk and probably would not have been drinking if Zoey had been with him and had not been force to go home right after the game.

"We shared a long-suffering look, in total agreement about the latest injustice committed against me by my mom and the Step-Loser she'd married three really long years ago." Chap. 1, p. 1
