Summary

Chapter 13 is titled “Consistency.” Jake asks Marc if he is going to sign up for the competition, knowing this is Marc's last day to do so. During jiu-jitsu class, Marc talks to a younger girl named Nora. She has been in many competitions and has lots of trophies. Nora says she has lost “plenty of times” (Location 997), especially when she began her training. Nora knows she cannot win if she does not compete. Marc knows that is the same message Jake had, but hearing Nora say it convinces him to compete.
