Chapter 36 Summary

Magee makes a deal with Russell and Piper that if they go to school for a week he will tell them a shortcut for Mexico. After that week is over he convinces them to wait another week and then another week. Meanwhile, the boys did not like school but did like the attention they got for hanging around the famous Maniac Magee. So the next time Magee tries to make a deal with them, they tell him that they will go to school for another week if he will enter the Finsterwald yard and stay there for ten minutes. That Saturday, as the scared boys look on Magee does it. He then makes a deal to add an additional week to the deal if he knocks on the door of the house.
