Chapter 24 Summary

By the time they get back to the band shell it is dinner time and Magee invites himself to the diner with Grayson. As Magee eats, Grayson asks him all about life on the East End. Grayson is surprised to hear how alike life is on both sides of town as Magee crushes many of his preconceived notions. At night, Grayson considers taking Magee back to the YMCA with him but Magee insists on sleeping in the band shell on a pile of chest protectors. Magee wants Grayson to tell him a bedtime story. Grayson claims he doesn't know any. Magee asks him what he wanted to be when he was a kid and Grayson answers a baseball player, and then leaves for the night.
