Chapter 23 Summary
Grayson buys Magee the krimpets and then takes him to the YMCA, where he lives. He allows Magee to shower and gives him some clean clothes. Grayson asks why Magee does not go to school and he tries to avoid the question before simply replying that he does not want to. It is revealed to the reader that the reason Magee dislikes school is because everyone who goes to school also has a home to go to at night. Since Magee did not have a home he was not going to school either. Magee tells Grayson that if he tries to make him go to school, he will run away. Grayson drops the subject and realizes how comfortable he is around Magee.
