Chapter 19 Summary
Mr. Cobble owned a corner grocery store and one morning he notices the most complex knot he had ever seen. Instead of cutting and throwing it away, Cobble decided to offer a prize to the person who could untie it. The grocery store became a pizza place and the prize went from free candy to a free pizza a week. The knot was the size of a volleyball and more than a year went by and still no one was able to untie it, so Mr. Cobble put the knot away. Amanda feels that if Magee unties the knot he will be seen as a hero, and makes him come with her.
Chapter 19 Analysis
Up to this point, the story has been realistic. Now the author introduces a side story about a man, who one day sees a huge knot and thinks that a contest to untie it will improve his business....
