Chapter 18 Summary

Amanda tries to convince Magee to ignore the angry old man and what happened to their house; however, Magee has made up his mind to leave. Amanda is worried about where he will sleep, eat, and go to the bathroom. Magee assures her that he was all right before and this will be no different. Amanda hopes that not having access to her books will force Magee to stay. However, Magee replies that he plans to join the library. Magee leaves for a time only to come back late in the night. The next morning Amanda tells Magee that she has figured out a way to like people like him and it has something to do with the Cobbler's Knot.
