Chapter 9 Summary

John McNab is angry that Magee embarrassed him on the baseball field. Together with his friends, who call themselves the Cobras, they go looking for Magee. They are surprised to find him running on the train rail. The Cobras begin to chase Magee, throwing rocks at him. They chase him all through town and then suddenly stop in their tracks and start laughing. Magee has crossed from the East End to the West End, and by this time it was getting dark. The Cobras assumed that the East End would rough Magee up worst than what they would have done.
