Magnus Chase

Magnus Chase is the primary protagonist and the narrator of the novel Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead. Magnus is the son of the Norse god of summer. In a previous novel, Magnus died as was taken to Valhalla by the Valkyrie Samirah. Because he died a valiant death in combat, he was made an einherji, one of Odin’s chosen warriors who will fight alongside him in the final battle of Ragnarok. Magnus’s primary goal is to recapture Loki, the god of mischief, and delay Ragnarok.

Before dying at the age of 16, Magnus was homeless in Boston. He lived with his mother Natalie until the age of 14, when she was killed by agents of Loki. While homeless, Magnus developed a relationship with Blitzen and Hearthstone, an elf and dwarf who were tasked with watching over him by Mirmir, the guardian of the well...
