Summary

Chapter 11 is written from the third person perspectives of Ellie, Max, and Julia.

After Cal consoles Ellie, the two of them agree to have a beer together. Cal follows her home. When they arrive, they hear a song that generates memories and causes them to talk about the men Ellie chose for husbands. Julia gives Cal a warm greeting when he goes into the house. Ellie wonders whether or not they are flirting. Julia gives Ellie a photograph of Alice and asks her if she can watch Alice while she goes out. Ellie is nervous about babysitting and Cal laughs off her fears. She agrees. Cal says that Julia should talk to Max about the girl’s diet instead of going to the library.
