Summary

This section begins in the present. Zeb suggests that some members of the cobb-house should conduct a looting mission to a pharmacy. Swift Fox invites herself to go on the mission because she claims that the women need "girl stuff." She means that the women want period supplies as well as pregnancy tests for Ren and Amanda. Zeb asks Toby if she needs anything, but she says no. Toby’s inner thoughts, however, show the reader that she does want things like notebooks, pens, and a mirror. Toby believes that Swift Fox is going on the mission only to sleep with Zeb, but Zeb, ignorant of Toby’s distress, agrees that Swift Fox can come.
