Chapters 17-19 Summary

In Chapter 17, Shiner kidnaps Amber from the Hooters parking lot with a screwdriver. Shiner is not supposed to talk to her but she starts up a conversation with him. In Krome's hometown, Judge Battenkill gets nervous about the body found in the burnt remains of Krome's house. Battenkill tells his secretary that he is going away with his wife for a while. In the Keys, Krome talks JoLayne into renting a boat for them while he keeps an eye on Bode. At that moment, Chub is in the water with the stolen boat and he runs the boat up onto a sandbar that he somehow manages to see. Chub has to get out to push the boat, causing his leg to get wet and his hidden lottery ticket to slip away.
