Chapter 2 Summary

The children are being driven to visit their Great-Aunt by their Mom. They make sugar cookies for their Aunt, which causes Mallory to comment on the fact that they are actually made from frozen dough. Mallory is at fencing practice when her siblings make the cookies and her Mom tells her she didn't make anything for their Aunt. Jared and Mallory start fighting in the car, and their mother reminds them that they are all grounded for an additional week and they don't want any more time on their sentence.

In the car, Jared checks to make sure the Field Guide is safe in his backpack. Feeling the guide in his pack, Jared is relieved that neither his sister nor the Faeries have taken the book from him. He hopes his Aunt is the one that has left the guide in the chest...
