Summary

Estelle and Skinny talk about their days as they sit in the bath tub. Skinny is cautious of saying much to Estelle and wonders if the other girls have had to make up the numbers as she had spent the whole day with Captain Hentschel. She is also worried about catching diseases. The two girls talk about how they manage their work; Skinny closes her eyes. Both girls have been having recurring dreams. Estelle dreams she is being cut in half, only to come back together again, and Skinny dreams that rats are giving her advice.

One of the other prostitutes, Tight Lips, is executed because the soldier she was with committed suicide in front of her. Prior to being killed she had been instructed not to speak to Madam Kulikowa, but the girls all found out what had happened anyway. Each morning...
