Chapter 2 Summary
The choir is less of a group by later in the day when Ralph blows the conch for a second meeting. He announces that they are on an island. Jack and Ralph mention the pigs on the island which they can eat. Ralph tries to plainly explain their situation and to implement some order, some rules, beginning with the conch, which he declares will indicate whose turn it is to speak. Piggy shares his realization that it may be a long time before anyone finds them because nobody knows where the boys are. Then a boy of about six years old wants to speak; Piggy interprets for him. He wants to know what Ralph is going to do about the snake-thing, the beastie. He says he saw it in the woods. At first there is laughter.
