Summary

In Chapter 18, Memories of the Past, Diana and Jia talk about the situation. Jia is skeptical that the Clave will support any action that brings an end to the Cold Peace, but Diana insists that everyone is sick of the Cold Peace, “except the most extreme bigots” (Location 5172). Jia says they are wishing for a glorious past that is not what they remember. She informs Jia that Zara lied when she said she killed Malcolm. Diana refuses to testify with the Mortal Sword, knowing she would reveal Julian's secrets as well as her own.
