Summary

In Chapter 17, Vernon called Two-Tie to let him know that Pelter was in a race. Vernon told him the Mahdi was also running that same Saturday and that Tommy Hansel was talking about claiming the horse back. Vernon wondered if Tommy was crazy. Two-Tie warned Vernon that no one should try to claim Pelter in the race. He also found out the race he wanted arranged for the Lord of Misrule was going badly but Two-Tie gave Vernon some ammunition he could use in getting plans for the race in motion. Before they hang up Vernon told Two-Tie that Maggie was listed as part owner on a horse owned by Bigg.
