Summary

Chapter 7 is titled “Satchmo's Master Plan,” and it takes place mainly on Nestle Street. Satchmo Jenkins was 7 years old when a Rottweiler in the neighborhood bit him. He was playing catch with a friend named Clancy. When Clancy threw the football, Satchmo missed and the ball went into the yard belonging to Ms. Adams. She had a dog named Brutus who was on a chain inside the yard. Satchmo knew the football was outside Brutus's reach, but he also knew Ms. Adams would yell if he went into her yard. Ms. Adams was not like the other women in the neighborhood, and Satchmo actually wondered if Brutus was her guard dog or if she was his guard person. Satchmo went into the yard and got the ball.
